Low calorie food

When on the calorie restriction diet, you'll want to consume plenty of low calorie food. Low calorie food will most often be choices that offer you the most volume for the smallest value of energy.

Vegetables are probably the perfect example of low calorie food because not only do they have a high water content, allowing you to consume a large amount, but they also contain a great deal of fibre, which helps to keep you feeling fuller for a longer period of time.

Other options that you'll want to look at when on a calorie restriction diet are berries, melons, apples, fish and egg whites. All of these foods are lower in energy values than typical dining choices so they will help you stick with the diet.

Remember too that while on this plan you can have as much diet soda, coffee and tea so long as it's sweetened with a sugar substitute. For many individuals, a hot beverage will help to promote feelings of fullness therefore taking care of some of the hunger that's experienced when you aren't eating as much food.

You can also look into sugar-free snack products as sometimes these are low in energy value and can fit with the diet but always remember portion size with these. Vegetables are about the only choice that you can eat unlimited amounts of without worry; everything else it's best to measure out how much you are eating to ensure you don't over consume.
