Chromium
You might be surprised to know that chromium is an essential part of your diet. It helps to metabolise fats and carbohydrates, is important in insulin metabolism, and is also essential for numerous chemical reactions necessary to life.
Chromium has also been implicated in helping people lose weight and increase lean body mass. The best source is brewer's yeast (good for marmite lovers!), however, many people either don't like the taste or else find it causes bloating and nausea. It is also present in foods including beef, eggs, chicken, bananas, spinach and wheat germ.
