Make sure that during the exercises you are not too out of breath to be unable to hold a conversation. Remember to stay within your comfort zone, and if it has been a while since you have undertaken any form of exercise that you do not do too much too soon.

  • To start with why not try doing the housework to some music. Cleaning at a slightly faster pace than normal should get your heart rate up - and also get the cleaning done faster!

  • Spend a few minutes climbing up and down the stairs.

  • Do some step aerobics, stepping up onto the bottom step of a staircase and back down onto the floor. This will also be good exercise to strengthen and tone the legs.

  • Go for a brisk walk.
