Body Mass Index

Using the Body Mass Index is a useful way of assessing whether or not your weight is a cause for concern. While it won't tell you anything about how you look, the Body Mass Index (BMI) will tell you if need to lose weight for medical reasons.

The BMI is a measure of fat percentage based on height and weight that applies to both adult men and women. The categories are as follows:

  • Less than 18.5 - Underweight
  • 18.5-24.9 - Normal weight
  • 25-29.9 - Overweight
  • 30+ - Obese
