Balanced diet
Exactly what is a balanced diet? Unfortunately is doesn't mean equal amounts of chocolate and bread, but rather, a balanced diet means one in which we eat appropriate amounts of protein, carbs and fat.
The exact specification of a balanced diet will vary from one expert to another, but most would agree on a mix of around 60% carbs, 25% fat, and 15% protein. So how do you know if you are eating in these proportions? If you base your diet around lean meats and fish, with plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and wholegrain carbs such as bread and pasta, you won't go far wrong.
