Low Fat Asian Style Stir Fry

The Asian Style Stir Fry is a delicious low fat meal, containing no saturated fats (the diet no-no!) and is very easy to prepare.

The dish can be based around either chicken or tofu depending on personal taste. Let's look at how it is done, and see below for the ingredients list that you will need. The recipe is based on two persons.

Cooking Asian Style Stir Fry

Check the cooking instructions on the noodles and allow enough time for the noodles to be cooked as per the instructions on the packet. The cooking time for the chicken meal is approx. 10 minutes, the tofu meal slightly less.

If you are using the chicken, make sure that you remove the skin, then cut it up into strips. If you are using tofu then cut it up into small cubes. Next add a little sesame oil into your wok (or frying pan) and put on a medium heat. Fry the ginger and garlic for a minute (making sure the temperature is not hot enough to burn them). Add the chicken or tofu, depending on what your preference is, and keep stirring to prevent it from sticking. While stirring add in the soy sauce and the chilli paste.

Continue to stir, and when the chicken or tofu has started to brown off, add in the carrot, leek and lime juice and mushrooms. At this point add 2 tbsp of hot water. Next add the mangetouts when the mushrooms have started to soften.

After another minute add in the bean sprouts, and then the cabbage. Leave to cook for another couple of minutes.

Drain the wholemeal noodles and serve together, adding a little salt or pepper to taste.
