Weight training

We know why weight training is used by rugby players and other athletes whose sports require strength, but why do so many everyday people do it? Go to your local gym and you'll see all types of people weight training - women, seniors, just about everyone seems to include it in their workouts these days. There are good reasons for this.

Firstly, strong muscles look better than weak flabby ones. Then there's the effect on your metabolism - muscles are the body's furnace, burning calories throughout the day. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn, 24/7!
