Stability disc for core conditioning

If you want to improve your core strength, a stability disc can do the job nicely. Any time you reduce your base of support you will need to tense the abdominal muscles more so that the rest of you can maintain better balance.

By performing a variety of movements on a stability disc you therefore force your core into action and they will always need to be tight.

One of the best exercises to perform with a stability disc is to place one under each of your feet. Once you have found your balance, then you are to begin squatting down as low as you can go. Once you're at the bottom, hold this for a second and then slowly return to the start. It will also likely help you to think, on the downward movement, of squeezing the glute muscles as this will further increase the chances you maintain control.

Another option is to perform a push-up using this piece of equipment with one hand placed on each. As you press down into the push-up you will really feel your chest and tricep muscles coming into play, thus giving them a much better workout than if you would have just done the movement on the floor.

So be creative when thinking of what you can do. The more you allow your thoughts to roam at the various ways of using it the more inclusive the workout will be.
