Low carb recipes

When people start on this dietary approach they often think finding a low carb recipe that matches the taste of their usual favourite dishes will be really difficult.

It really does not have to be that hard coming up with a low carb recipe though because there are so many products out there now that you can use as a replacement. For example, if you love baked goods, you can use ground almonds in replacement of flour and there are a multitude of artificial sweeteners that you can use to replace sugar that's called for.

Below is one for flax bread that would fit nicely as a low carb recipe on any diet.

9 tbsp butter
5 eggs
13 tbsp ground flax seeds
1.5 tsp baking powder
4 drops of liquid sweetener
2 oz. finely chopped and cooked bacon pieces
2 oz. grated cheddar cheese
1 tbsp mixed herbs
small amount of salt

Begin by preheating the oven to 200 degrees Celcius. Then mix the eggs, flax, baking powder, salt, herbs and sweetener in a bowl and then melt the butter and pour into the mixture. Continue to mix this until it's well blended and then place in the fridge for about five minutes. After this add in the bacon and cheese and then spoon into a greased dish. Bake for 15-20 minutes and then grill (changing the oven's setting) for 3-5 more minutes if you prefer it slightly crispy.

So don't be too frightened when you adopt this type of approach to your eating, as long as you are a little creative you will be able to find more than enough meals to satisfy your tastebuds.
