Judy Mazel Beverly Hills diet

Slimming Author Judy Mazel made her name with the Beverly Hills Diet. This is a food combining diet that recommends certain combinations of food at certain times of day.

Judy Mazel's books explain the basics of the programme, with supporting medical research, then go on to demonstrate how you can achieve and maintain what Judy Mazel terms "slimhood".

The practicalities include a 35-day weight loss programme, and recipes and a workbook to help you as you go through the diet.

Some of the suggestions in the diet are healthy - for example, she encourages you to give up preservatives and salty, packaged foods - and the emphasis on consumption of fruit is certainly positive.

On the downside, some people may have digestive problems eating this much fruit, and the diet is also low on protein - this is contrary to most recent research that suggests that increasing your consumption of protein will lead to weight loss.

The original idea has been spun into a whole range of titles including:

  • The Beverly Hills Diet
  • The New Beverly Hills Diet: A 365-day Program for Lifelong Slimhood
  • Living with the Beverly Hills Diet
  • Recipes to Forever: New Beverly Hills Diet
  • The Beverly Hills Style: How to Be the Star in Your Own Life
  • The Beverly Hills Diet Lifetime Plan
  • The Little Skinny Book: New Beverly Hills Diet
  • Slim and Fit Kids: Raising Healthy Children in a Fast-food World (With John E. Monaco)
